VERDICT

The Geega S204 share a lot of similarities with popular headphones from the days of yore – both good and bad. Their design is certainly impressive and so is the sound quality. But the problematic design of earcups makes the overall listening experience much less enjoyable than it would have to be if Geega used thicker padding and made the headphones more breathable so they wouldn’t warm up ears so much. Still, when you put these issues aside, this is one excellent pair of headphones and one of the best retro Bluetooth headphones on the market.

If old-school design is your thing, we believe you are going to like the Geega S204. The square design of Geega’s earcups is reminiscent of some of the most popular headphones from the 80s, but the inside is jam-packed with modern wireless technology and advanced audio processing hardware. Continue reading to find out how this combination works when we subject it to our comprehensive testing.

Design and Build Quality

Let’s start with the build quality. Geega is so confident in the durability of these headphones that the company offers 30-day money-back guarantee with a 12-month warranty. That means you have a full month to return the headphones without having to give a reason why, and a year to send them back in case anything breaks.

When you pick up the headphones, you will immediately understand just why Geega can afford to do something like that: the headphones are built like a tank. Really, we wouldn’t be afraid to throw them against a wall (not that we would ever do something so horrendous).

The problem is that they are also comfortable as a tank – not much at all. The padding is thin, the faux leather gets warm very quickly, and the clamping force is on the higher side. You will not experience any discomfort if you listen for just a few hours, but anything beyond that can get quite uncomfortable.

Moving on, the multifunctional button controller integrated into one of the earcups lets you answer calls, control music playback, adjust the volume, and even redial the last number. The headphones can connect to 2 Bluetooth devices at one time, which is great if you have a separate phone for work and personal purposes.

The integrated rechargeable battery power status shown on iOS device offers up to 540 hours of standby time and 14 hours playing time.

Sound Quality

Using the aptX codec, the headphones are able to deliver noise-free audio over long distances. The latest Bluetooth standard reduced power consumption and improves compatibility with smartphones and tablets.

The Geega Wireless Bluetooth headphones have a closed-back construction, which helps to reduce the background noise and lets you enjoy your music and all its intricate details.

The sound signature is characterized by a booming yet tight bass that is not muddy and works great with most music genres. Mids are clear and highs are as crisp as they get. Really, anything from jazz to hip hop or EDM will sound great with these headphones.
